How do I find scholarship metrics like Journal Impact Factor and H-index?

Answer

Scholarship metrics can be found in a variety of places including some of the library's paid databases (JCR, Web of Science, Scopus, etc.) as well as in open access resources (Altmetric, SciMago, etc.).

  • Promotion & Tenure Resource Guide provides a wealth of information on what these metrics are, how to use them, and how to obtain them.
  • Journal Impact Factors can be obtained from Journal Citation Reports. If your journal is not in this database then it does not have an impact factor, not all journals do.
  • Metric Toolkit provides an overview of all the different metrics available to researchers and scholars and how to use them.
