How does the request feature work?

Answer

Making a request is similar to placing a hold at a public library or recalling a book that has been renewed multiple times. Making a request for an item that is checked out changes the due date for the item. The person who currently has a requested item checked out will have up to 10 days to return the item requested - the the identity of both users remains private during the process. Once the item has been returned and is available for check out you will receive an email saying it is on hold for you at the Parks Library Main Desk.

Requests can also be made to have items from other library facilities (such as the Library Storage Building) delivered to campus or to have materials ready at the library desk for pick up (Pick From Shelf Service).

The request feature is only visible if you are signed into My Library Card and for physical items.

Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery can be used to request digital copies of articles and book chapters as well as materials (books, movies, etc.) not owned by the University Library.
