Where can I find patents?
Answer
Most U.S. patent documents can be accessed online through the USPTO's Patent Public Search Database. Additional search tools and helpful books can be found via the ISU Library's Patents Guide.
In Iowa, the best place to find additional information and get help with patent searching is the Davenport Public Library (which houses the only patent library in the state). For more information, see their website or contact the Davenport Public Library Reference Desk at 563-326-7845.
If you have any questions about the patent application process, the USPTO strongly recommends that you consult with a registered patent attorney or agent.
