Where can I study in the Library?

Answer

There are a variety of study areas throughout Parks Library. Some are best used for group work while others are dedicated quiet areas. Food and drinks are welcome on all floors except on 4th floor where food is prohibited.

Quiet areas

The Periodical Room on the second floor is a designated quiet zone. The room has high ceilings, beautiful natural light, and tables with powered tables for charging devices.

The Tiers - which run up the center of the building - are not designated quiet zones but they tend to be quieter than the rest of the library. In the back half of the each tier is a line of single-user study carrels (semi-private study "nooks"). Each carrel is equipped with a light.

Group and collaborative spaces

On the third floor, right off of the main stairwell, is a large collaborative group space. Wheeled white boards are available as are reservable group study rooms. This is not a quiet zone!

The Learning Connections Center - on the ground floor of Parks - has duel and single screen PC's and Mac's as well as powered tables for plugging in your tech, couches for relaxing, pods if you need a little privacy, and 2 group study rooms. Bookends cafe is also right down the hall.

Room 198 is the large classroom on the east end of the first floor. It is frequently used for large university classes but can be used for study and group work when not used for classes or events. All tables are powered for device charging and there are large monitors on the tables against the walls.

Library computer labs

Parks 032 (lower level) and  Parks 134 (1st floor) are computer labs that can be used if a class is not in session. There are more computers distributed on various floors of the library and in the Learning Connections Center.

Social spaces

If you want to eat and study the Fireplace Reading Room (1st floor Parks) is located in front of the Bookends Cafe. Bookends Reading Room (Parks 199) is down the hall from the cafe and has tables with power for your tech.

The International Nest is a dedicated space for international students and those interested in getting to know them and is located in 034 Parks (lower level). The main room is for relaxing, socializing, and even studying, while the second room has four small study spaces, white boards, and three computers.
