What are the benefits of sharing my work through the Iowa State University Digital Repository?

Answer

Open Access

Works in the Digital Repository can be used by anyone with an internet connection, anywhere in the world. This availability increases public access to your research, increasing opportunities for your work to be read and cited.

Funder Compliance

Some funding agencies require that resulting publications be shared in a non-commercial, public-access repository.

Stability

Works in the Digital Repository are given a stable, permanent URL. This means that when you link to your works in the repository, or when your colleagues cite your research, users will always be able to find it.

Download Statistics

The Digital Repository provides authors with metrics such as download counts that provide insight into scholarship impact.

Support from the ISU Digital Repository Team

Our team provides several services for authors:

  • deposit works on behalf of authors
  • review the copyright status of each work and the publishers' self-archiving policies
  • determine the version of each work we are permitted to deposit and work with authors to acquire a copy, as needed
  • create author profile pages in the repository that feature the author's deposited works along with the author's name, title, biography, and ORCID
  • track and deposit new publications
  • share download and view statistics with authors on request
